1989 - How it all started

Frans Mellink founded Battery Benelux. His vision was clear: "A lifetime of good hearing!" with a focus on quality and long-term partnerships. From day one, he set the tone with a clear direction and a passion for the profession.

1999 - 10-year anniversary

Battery Benelux celebrates its proud ten-year anniversary. In its first decade, the company has already secured a strong market position both in the Netherlands and abroad. Growth is firmly on track.

2004 - Bigger dreams and ambitions

The upward trend continues. We are relocating within Uithoorn to a new building with our own warehouse, specially designed to support growing demand and ambitions. A big step forward in professionalism and efficiency. Now it’s really starting to take shape.

2008 - Passing the torch to a new generation

Frans hands over the reins to the next generation and it shows! Thanks to the solid foundation he built, we’re able to move forward with renewed energy and fresh ideas. His years of dedication and vision continue to underpin our success, both today and in the future.

25-year anniversary🎉

We proudly celebrate our 25th anniversary. By now, it’s safe to say we’ve become a well-established name in the industry. Nearly every hearing care professional in the Netherlands knows us and regards us as a reliable supplier with a comprehensive range of products.

2015 - Bigger warehouse, greater reach

We relocate within Mijdrecht to our next location. There, we not only have access to an even larger warehouse (1000 m²), but we can also welcome our customers and partners in a beautiful showroom. And yes, the coffee we serve there is top-notch — our first priority, naturally, was to get that sorted! But at the end of the day, we also enjoy a soft drink or a beer. We like to think we're that flexible too!

2016/2017 - A new colleague and a higher gear

Possibly the most important news in our company’s history. Or call it an unforgettable milestone. That’s right! We welcome our very own unique, sometimes barking and never biting office dog! She is by far — to this very day — our most beloved colleague. No one can compete with her. No one naps as often as she does. The professionalization of our organization is now a fact! But to say we have the best guard dog in the Netherlands? Hmm… not quite!

The world is spinning faster than ever. Naturally, we respond by further professionalizing our purchasing process and turning it into a dedicated department. This helps us stay focused and continue strengthening our network on this side of the business. Quite handy, because it means we can often present fantastic deals and offers to our customers in close collaboration with our suppliers. We call that: win-win-win-win-win!

2018 - Introducing BB Hearing

The market keeps evolving and so do we. Technology advances at lightning speed. What works today might be outdated by tomorrow. We expand our e-business team with enthusiastic data nerds who live by one simple motto:
measure to know. Exhausting? Sometimes. Essential? Always. Meanwhile, we take our first steps internationally under a new name: BB Hearing.

2022 - E-com re-invented

After months of building, testing, and fine-tuning, it's here: our completely revamped webshop. Smarter, faster, and more user-friendly than ever. Everything you need, all in one place. We had quite a few debates about it (things got a little heated behind the scenes at times), but the result speaks for itself. A webshop we’re proud of, packed with features for professionals in the hearing care sector. More than ever, we’re here for you as your ally-supplier!

2023 - The convenience of a good click

After going live at the end of 2022, this was the true test year. And the feedback? Largely positive, especially about the ease of use and time savings. Ordering is smooth, fast, and hassle-free. Our webshop has become a trusted tool for professionals in the hearing market and is being used more and more. Here’s to even greater shared success!

35-year anniversary🎂

In 2024, we proudly celebrated our 35th anniversary. A milestone we are incredibly grateful for. For 35 years, we’ve been committed every day to supporting hearing care professionals with quality products and dependable service. This special year was not only about looking back and celebrating but also about looking ahead. And we welcomed a furry new colleague: Teddy, our new office dog, who has since brought extra energy (and the occasional distraction) to our team.

2025 - New name, stronger future

Starting in July 2025, we will take an important step in our history. Our organization will continue under the new company name
BB Synergy B.V. Our trusted brands — BB Hearing, Battery Benelux, and HearPlanet — will remain unchanged and active in the market. Behind the scenes, we are joining forces within a renewed structure focused on growth, professionalization, and innovation.

With Edwin as director and Frans Story joining him as the new co-owner, we continue to build the future of the hearing industry. At the same time, we look back with great appreciation on the many years of dedication from Saskia, who together with Edwin has built the organization into what it is today.

A new chapter, but with the same trusted promise: contributing every day to a lifetime of good hearing!
